The Stellar Awards’ New Changes to Eligibility and Voting Process

stellarsimgDon Jackson, Stellar Award President and CEO, recently released the new requirements for an artist to be eligible for a Stellar Award. Below you can see what the new eligibility and voting process. Jackson and his team decided to implement the following changes:

Eligibility Period:

The 28th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards, hosted by Mary Mary and Kirk Franklin, was the last year in which the eligibility period from July 1st to June 30th was utilized. The 2014 Eligibility Period will be from July 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013, to ensure that we are fair during the transition period. Subsequently, in 2015, the eligibility period will be from October 1, 2013 to September 30, 2014. Nominations will be announced thereafter.

Project Eligibility Criteria:

The Stellar Awards Executive Committee has decided on the following criteria for project eligibility:

• The project must have been released during the eligibility period (July 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013)
• The project must be sold and played nationally
• The project must chart in the TOP 25 for AT LEAST FOUR WEEKS on AT LEAST TWO of the Nielsen Charts (Billboard, SoundScan, or BDS)
• The person submitting the project must be a member of the Stellar Awards Gospel Music Academy (SAGMA)
