It doesn’t matter how much progression we make as a society because there will always be people who are against equal rights. Recently, an African-American couple from Jackson, Mississippi was the latest victim of racism and inequality in America. The couple, Charles and Te’Andrea Wilson, planned to get married at First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs, which happens to be a predominantly white church. The couple were ecstatic about exchanging their vows until they were notified that the ceremony couldn’t take place at the church.
The couple received the horrific news only two days prior to the wedding. The reason that the church’s pastor, Rev. Stan Weatherford, refused to marry the couple was because members of the congregation complained about an African-American couple getting at their church. It’s reported that five or six members went to Rev. Stan Weatherford after seeing the couple’s wedding rehearsal the Thursday night before their Saturday wedding, and that’s when he broke the news to the couple.
“I feel like it was blatant racial discrimination,” says Wilson.
Rev. Weatherford’s response was, “I didn’t want to have a controversy within the church, and I didn’t want a controversy to affect the wedding of Charles and Te’Andrea. I wanted to make sure their wedding day was a special day.”

What a shame. As far as I’m concerned; that church is doing it’s own thing. To not allow someone to be married in God’s house is ridiculous. The couple should definately move on and find a loving church home where the color of your skin doesn’t matter.

Amen!!! The person who complain about the rehearsal was mad because she or he can’t find nobody to marry them,IDK it’s just a shame there is to much going on in this world to be tripping on color for marriage

It is sad but it sounds like the people in the church, run the church, I thought it was God’s church. The one place where love is suppose to abound has turned into a democracy and not a theocracy. Lord have mercy!!! What would Jesus do???

It is rather unfortunate, but it is also proof of how much the body of Christ must operate in the spirit and not the flesh. If they have racial issues, then they have hate issues and you can’t enter the kingdom of God with hate in your heart. Furthermore, Jesus was controversial regarding the religion and bondage of the Pharisees, who knew the word and didn’t live it. Maybe its time for a controversy {life vs. death, truth vs. lie, light vs. darkness, love vs. hate (oh, that just happened)}instead of going to the church with a form of godliness denying the power thereof. If controversy is what the Pastor was trying to avoid, then it seems that he is still somewhat governed by man rather than God, because if they are in error and as the leader he succumbs to their position, he might as well agree.
