Introducing: New Jersey Native Brother Hahz (Hassan McMillan)

BrotherHahzNew Jersey native Brother Hahz (Hassan McMillan) has seen more than the average artist by touring the country and performing in Europe with Queen Latifah, Naughty by Nature, The Fugees and Jay-Z to name a few.  A seasoned artist with many years of experience, he spent time working and performing with Rocafella Records after making a strong impression on label founders Damon Dash and Jay-Z.  A few years later he relocated to Florida to help build the foundation of light heavyweight champion Roy Jones Jr.’s record label, Bodyhead Entertainment.  Confronted with many disappointments and setbacks, Hahz returned home some years later with the intentions of redefining himself.   His purpose manifested itself – in 2003 he was shot in the chest and narrowly escaped death.

His narrow escape from death and the birth of his daughter was the catalyst for a directional shift in his career.  In the Spring of 2004, he committed his life to Christ resulting in a dynamic anointing on his musical gift.

As a lyricist, singer, writer, producer, composer and arranger, Hahz used his experiences both professional and personal to record his debut album God Spoke To Me that captured the hearts and souls of many around the country and as far as Japan.  On his sophomore project No Pain No Change Brother Hahz pens anointed songs such as “Keep Praying for Me”, “Change Your Life”, “I Will Not Go Back” and “Somebody”.

Brother Hahz won the 2006 McDonald’s Gospelfest national competition and has appeared on FOX 5 Good Day New York Street Talk.  He has ministered at Bishop T.D. Jakes’ Megafest Family Expo Sound Stage and was given the opportunity to be a guest speaker and minister in song at the Cathedral International July 2006 Youth Conference where Bishop Donald Hilliard, Jr. is Senior Pastor.

In the summer of 2007 Brother Hahz toured with Byron Cage on his multiple city promotional tour and was the only Gospel Hip-Hop artist invited on Bryon Cage’s Live from the Apollo Tour the next year.  In November 2009, Bill Cosby, Jr sought out Brother Hahz to be featured on the hip hop album Cosby Narratives Vol. 1:  State of Emergency.  During the promotional tour Hahz was privileged to perform on the Jay Leno Show with Billy Cosby in January 2010.

The anointing and uniqueness of Brother Hahz’s ministry touched the heart of gospel phenomenon, Donald Lawrence.  Lawrence personally invited Hahz to be featured on his release The Law of Confession, Part 1.  Brother Hahz and Donald Lawrence co-wrote the song, “Let the Word Do the Work” and Brother Hahz was a featured guest on the How Sweet the Sound 2009 Tour.
