Event Review: The 44th Annual Dove Awards Returns to Nashville

On Tueday, October 15, 2013, The 44th Annual Dove Awards took place at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena in its hometown, Nashville. The show was hosted by Gospel Music Icon Kirk Franklin and The Queen of Christian Pop Amy Grant. Putting these two together was a genius move by the show’s producers, as their chemistry was beyond entertaining.

The show opened with an amazing high-energy performance from Toby Mac with his hit-song, “Eye On It”. A few other inspiring performers took the stage that night including Colton Dixon, Capital Kings, Trip Lee, KB, Jason Crabb, Tasha Cobbs, Big Daddy Weave, Amy Grant and more. The performance that stole the night was Tamela Mann singing her chart-topping, hit song “Take Me To The King”, bringing the entire stadium to their feet.

Many of Gospel’s elite were in the building to present an award or be honored with one, including American Idol Finalist Mandisa, who received the ‘Uplifting Award’ for her inspiring life testimony. Other Gospel Artists, Pastors and Personalities at the 44th Annual Dove Awards included Montell Jordan, Rick Warren, Joyce Meyer, Matt Redman, Chonda Pierce, LeCrae, Anthony Brown, Earnest Pugh, Done Hampton and plenty more. 1. Pop Contemporary Album of the Year: Toby Mac

2. Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year: LeCrae “Gravity”

3. Worship Album of the Year: Chris Tomlin “Burning Lights”

4. Traditional Gospel Album of the Year: Tamela Mann “Best Days”

5. Song of the Year: “10,000 Blessings” by Matt Redman

6. Gospel Performance of the Year: “Break Every Chain” by Tasha Cobbs

7. New Artist of the Year: For Country and King

8. Artist of the Year: Toby Mac

The show was definitely one to remember and you don’t want to miss it! The 44th Annual GMA Dove Awards will air exclusively on the UP!
