I’m sure you all know by now, unless you’re living under a rock, that Pastor Creflo Dollar, of World Changers Church in College Park, was arrested last Friday morning for simple battery charges. Dollar was accused of choking and punching his 15 year old daughter after a heated argument. His daughter placed a 911 call and had her father arrested at their home in Fayette County. Dollar was placed in the county jail with his bail set at $5,000. He was later released and has since denied that he ever put his hands on his daughter.
On the following Sunday, Dollar addressed his congregation about the situation, saying he never choked or punched his daughter, and that he should have never been arrested. He admitted that his daughter did have an abrasion on her neck, however, he claims that it came from eczema and the police should have asked about the mark before assuming it came from the incident. In this next video you can hear his daughter’s call to 911. She doesn’t sound like she was too distraught, but she does say she was shaking and upset. She claims her father punched her and threatened to choke her. And admits that this isn’t the first time that something like this has happened. She also reveals that she’s scared to stay in the house. I did notice that when asked if she has any physical injuries from the incident she said no. Thus, confirming Dollar’s claim about the mark on her neck coming from eczema. Check out the video below and let us know what you think.
Fayette County NAACP President John E. Jones has released a statement revealing that the organization intends to perform an investigation on the arrest of Pastor Creflo Dollar. “We simply want to make sure that Pastor Dollar is allowed to be a responsible parent and discipline his children,” said Jones.
He continues, “Parenting children in this day and time can be very challenging because many children believe that they can call the police at any time to stop any unwanted discipline. Little do they know that this can subject their parent or them to an arrest. Conversely, unruly or undisciplined children could get physically hurt or suffer worse punishment when they act out and come in contact with law enforcement. African-American children suffer the most in this situation. The parents are in a dilemma whether to forgo disciplining their children or to leave it up to law enforcement. Should we be apathetic, lax or indifferent and let the courts send our unruly children to jail or should we as parents do our duty and appropriately discipline our children? These are the questions every parent is asking today. The responsibility of the NAACP is to get out front and ask these culturally sensitive questions that affect the fundamental cause of freedom, equality and justice.”

Speaking as a Professional School Counselor, her response was not unusual….just because she was not yelling or screaming does not mean that nothing happened. I was not there so I will not say what did or did not happen, only to say that I believe soemthing did happen and this was not the first time.

My parents used the “rod” of correction on me. They used the “rod” when I needed correction. With the way things are now, my mother would be placed under the bed. She used a “switch” from the hedges surrounding our house. She also used a belt. There were times that I had marks on me! But the rebillion was driven out of me. Pastor Dollar’s daughter is 15! She wanted to go to a dance. He said no. That should have ended the discussion. This call took place at 1:00AM. No 15 year old needs to be going any where at that time of night. Children these days know that they can call the police if a parent uses corpal punishment. I will continue to pray for the family!

I feel that he did just what he was suppose to do in regards to discipline. Now that all this has taken place, I would have her removed from my home and sent to an all girls school until she turns 18 years of age. I don’t feel as though that her father was abusing her, and because this generation feels as though they can say and do what they want. If he was founded to be not guilt, then they should charge the daughter for making a false arrest. Tough love is hard, but the generation of today needs to know what love is. I believe a parent should be able to discipline their child without abusing them. We a person is incarurated, they do have discipline measures put in place for them miss behaving, but they don’t have a timeout room for young adults at home. When a person is unruly and disorderly, they bring the person under control the best way they can, and sometimes phyical contact is needed. Why should any parent who is raising their children with boundaries and rules, but not abusing them be charged for doing what’s best for their kids. Every child is not a timeout child and get themselves together. You have some that needs to be subdued and brought back into reality. If the parents don’t do it, and the system does it for you, your child is a criminal. parents keep up the good work with discipline.
