A few weeks ago Kandi Burruss, former member of the R&B group Xscape, announced an upcoming Gospel song with none other than Marvin Sapp via FaceBook. Now, Kandi has finally released the inspirational record, “Stay Prayed Up”.
For some people, Kandi is simply a personality on Bravo’s reality show, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”, which may be the cause of some criticisms thrown her way. Addressing the negativity prior to the release of “Stay Prayed Up” Kandi said, “I have gotten alot of responses about the new one-time Gospel song, “Stay Prayed Up”! Many say they are excited [and] some say it shouldn’t be done, but I think it relates to sinners and saints!”
After hearing the song many can tell that it’s a personal testimony from Kandi about situations she has been through. However, people still didn’t think it is appropriate for Kandi to do a Gospel song because of her personal business ventures. To address the post-release criticism, Kandi again took to her FaceBook. She says:
“I knew when I decided to do it that I would be criticized. That’s to be expected. I’m a single mom that had a child out of wedlock, I speak openly about sex on #KandiKoatedNights, I have #BedroomKandi, etc… I’m very honest about who I am. My great grandfather & my grandfather were Bishops in The Church of God Holiness. I believe in God but I have always struggled with the rules of the church just like a lot of people. The song “Stay Prayed Up” is like a testimony for me. Hopefully people with a similar struggle can relate.”

This is an inspriational song that will speak to sinners and saved people alike. Marvin Sapp is a well respected artist in the gospel community and he’s not going to put his name w/anything that isn’t about God. The haters need to hate on. It’s time to reach out to the lost w/something that they can relate to. Both Kandi and Marvin lost the special person in their lives and this song talks about how they made it through that dark time in their lives. Haters need to get past who’s singing the song and let the words minister to their hearts. AMEN to Kandi and Marvin. Beautiful song.

I like the song. She does a lot of runs that reminds me she’s an R&B singer but even with them, its a beautiful song and I’m proud of her. She did a good job. (Also I noticed that after Marvin’s part she starts feeling it and just sang!

It seems to me that this site doesnt load on a Motorola Droid. Are other folks getting the same issue? I like this website and dont want to have to skip it when Im away from my computer.

Next time I read a blog, Hopefully it doesn’t fail me just as much as this one. I mean, Yes, it was my choice to read through, but I actually thought you would probably have something helpful to say. All I hear is a bunch of complaining about something that you can fix if you weren’t too busy searching for attention.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
