Reverend Al Sharpton Helps Local Gospel Station Spread the Word of Peace

Pleasantville — A well known civil rights activist was in town Saturday to help celebrate a special milestone for a South Jersey radio station.

WEHA Gospel 88.7 FM has now been spreading the message of peace over local airways for the past year. As keynote speaker for the banquet at the Mount Zion Baptist Church, Reverend Al Sharpton says it’s this kind of message that will help break the throes of violence.

“The significance here is that they’ve built a gospel station, 24 hours, and to put a positive message in the community. I think as we try to combat some of the social ills, we’ve got to also deal with some of the break downs in our own community,” said Reverend Sharpton.

Also part of Saturday’s celebration was a tribute to a pair of local charities, Sister Jean’s Soup Kitchen and Atlantic County Toys for Kids.
