GRAMMY® Award nominated, GMA Dove Award and Stellar Award winner Kierra Sheard launches the second phase of her current CD project, Free. This week, the CD lands at #15 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart and her current single, “You Are” is #19 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart. Free debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart and has remained in the Top 20 since its release in October 2011.
The family’s label, Karew Records (pronounced: Kuh-rue) is gearing up for the second phase of Kierra’s project. The label is servicing a four song sampler to radio and media which will include the current single, “You Are;” a remake of Chris Tomlin’s praise ballad “Indescribable;” the fired up “Victory” featuring James Fortune; and “Lane” featuring JDrew Sheard II (JDS).
Kierra will also continue her tour of Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) during the spring. Recent visits included Clark Atlanta University, Albany State University, Miles College, Delaware State University, Prairie View A&M University, Florida A&M University; non HBCU included Coastal Carolina University and Wake Forest University. Kierra feels a connection to college students because she only recently earned her bachelor’s degree. In May 2011, Kierra graduated from Wayne State University, where she majored in English, with a minor in psychology. Her father, Bishop J. Drew Sheard was adamant about his children getting a college education. While at Wayne State, Kierra developed an interest in clinical psychology, and she hopes to pursue a master’s degree in that subject area.
In March 2012, Kierra will launch a new blog titled K-Square, a Christian based blog site that is meant to be both inspirational and fun.
