However, after reading the article that many news outlets are quoting as their source, I found that it simply reveals his estimated net worth. Although the estimated number is an astounding $8.5 million, the article doesn’t mention anything about him being the ‘richest’ man in Gospel.
The actual article on www.therichest.org says:

Kirk Franklin first rose to prominence in the early 90s, performing with the group he founded, which came to be known as Kirk Franklin and The Family.
