Gospel songstress, Danetra Moore, debuts on Billboard with her new digital album, Light In The Dark, which is now available on iTunes and Amazon Music. The album debuted at Number 27* on the Billboard Gospel Chart, marking the first Billboard appearance for the former Sunday Best finalist.
“It is absolutely remarkable to be charting on Billboard and I’m ecstatic that God’s music is being heard and well received by the listeners,” said Moore.
Light in the Dark will meet listeners where they are. Each track tells a story that is relatable to all of God’s children and is filled with the kind of music that aims to uplift, encourage and motivate. Pulling from her Christian upbringing and studying the greats of soul, gospel and R&B, Moore has dubbed her music as “funky gospel soul.” “I just wanted to make good music, getting back to the heart of the music instead of being buried in a particular genre or sound,” explains Moore.
Light in the Dark gives Moore the long-awaited chance to fulfill her dream. Prior to making it to the final round on “Sunday Best” in 2012, she was known for her work as a backup singer and songwriter who shared the stage with gospel and R&B heavyweights like Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, Dave Hollister and Angie Stone. Currently, she sings backup for national R&B and jazz recording artist Ledisi. But, with the nationwide release of Light in the Dark through Tyscot, Moore is taking center stage – sharing her personal story of how God has truly made a way, especially through the dark periods of her life.
