Zacardi Cortez’ soul-stirring radio smash “1 on 1” continues to break new ground for the rising star. The intense, soul-wrench ballad is spending its fourth week at #1 on Billboard magazine’s Gospel Airplay chart and has also climbed to #21 with a bullet on Billboard’s Adult R&B chart. “This is a message we want to spread beyond the walls of the church,” says Douglas. “Everybody needs some one on one time with God but also with the people who mean something to them. With our hectic lives, the song is just a little reminder to make some time for one on one time.”
Cortez is slated to do a mini-concert on the nationally syndicated Yolanda Adams Morning Show on Friday, February 28th when her show does a live remote from the Charlotte Convention Center. Fans are invited to attend the broadcast that takes place from 6:00 to 10 a.m. There will also be performances from Jason Nelson, Zacardi Cortez, Sherri Jones-Moffett and Alexis Spight.
The soulful tune is featured on Cortez’ forthcoming 13-track CD “Reloaded: Deluxe Edition” (World Wide Music, Inc.) that will be released April 1, 2014. The 28-year old rising star first sang with his family, The Cortez Singers, as a child. He first gained notice as the lead on James Fortune & FIYA’s 2008 breakthrough hit “The Blood” and their subsequent #1 smash, “I Believe.” He’s as well known for his intricate vocal gymnastics and fiery hoops as for his smooth tone. He can sing it all, from gutbucket blues to polished pieces.
