Urban Roundup Entertainment announces the first ever Faith Against Cancer Gospel Concert. This inspirational event is more than just an ordinary concert, as it will be an uplifting night of encouragement, entertainment and Faith for those affected directly and indirectly by this devastating disease. Faith Against Cancer’s purpose is to raise cancer awareness within the Faith-Based Community and to help find a way to control this fatal disease. All are welcome to come enjoy the show and be informed of what increases cancer risks and its effects. Bring your family, friends and loved ones who may be battling cancer to receive God’s support and love as they go through this difficult time in their life.
Although there are over 200 different known cancers, there’s still so much that is unknown about the disease. Cancer rates continue to rise every year as a result of many people living to reach an older age in our developing world. Many of us know someone who has cancer that may not be financially able to take care of their medical costs. This creates a burden for us all as a community because we strive to help others in any way that we can. One of the goals of Faith Against Cancer is to generate money that will assist aide care organizations with providing support for those in need.
“When someone is diagnosed with cancer, their Faith is usually what helps them continue to move forward. That’s why I want us all to come together and put our Faith Against Cancer. I’ve lost six people as a result of cancer within the past five years, so I want to raise awareness of the disease. My goal is to help raise funds for cancer research and provide a monetary contribution to organizations that assist patients,” says Khalif M. Townes, CEO/President of Urban Roundup Entertainment.
The Faith Against Cancer Gospel Concert will be produced by Townes and takes place on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at The Wells Fargo Center, 3601 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA beginning at 2:00 pm. The 17,000 seat venue is expected to be filled with believers, saints, cancer patients and those who simply want to enjoy a great night of uplifting entertainment. Admission for the event is $20.00 and all proceeds will benefit cancer research and aide care. Tickets purchased for the Faith Against Cancer Gospel Concert will also include Free Admission to the Philadelphia Soul’s football game later that evening at 7:00 pm.
Attendees of Faith Against Cancer will also be provided with informative materials related to cancer that also encourages them to get checked for the disease. Regular cancer check-ups are necessary because most people who have cancer are unaware since it is often mistaken for other diseases with similar symptoms. Although cancer researchers know what increases the risk of cancer, the specific causes of the disease are still vague, with the exception of it being hereditary. Thus, Faith Against Cancer will donate proceeds to cancer research to bring us closer to discovering how to stop it from taking our family members, friends and loved ones away from us.
Confirmed musical guests scheduled to appear at the Faith Against Cancer Gospel Concert thus far includes National Gospel Recording Artist Earnest Pugh, Praise & Worship Leader/Singer Stephen Hurd and Philly’s Own Powerhouse Gospel Singer Tamika Patton. Hosting the show will be Nationally Syndicated Radio Host Lonnie Hunter. Bishop Gilbert Coleman, Jr., of Freedom Christian Bible Fellowship, will give a few wise words of encouragement during the event. Additional performers will be confirmed week after week leading up to the show.

Dear Urban RoundUp,
I’m really happy to see this concert. God bless you! It’s not however, the first. As a survivor, I started doing cancer awareness concerts/awards in 2003. Honoring survivors as well as those who lost their lives to cancer. Would be willing to send samples of programs if interested. As a matter of interest, Lonnie Hunter one of your guest came to my second event in 2004 in Sarasota, FL.
My own health and other personal crisis at the time, prevented its continuance after 2005. I am grateful to see it rise again. May the Lord bless you indeed. It is needed, especially in our faith community.
Sincerely, Rev. Dr. Mariea E. Watkins

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.
