Tyscot Records’ rich roster of gospel artists have earned a collective five Dove Award nominations in the forthcoming 50th Annual GMA Dove Awards that will take place October 15, 2019 @6:30 PM at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena in Nashville, TN. The program will air Sunday, October 20 @ 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN).
Twenty-year-old newcomer, Kelontae Gavin, who enjoyed a massive Top 5 hit with “No Ordinary Worship” in 2018, snagged a nod as New Artist of the Year. Anthony Brown & group therAPy earned notice for their current radio smash “Blessings on Blessings” in the category of Contemporary Gospel/Urban Recorded Song of the Year.
Former Atlanta schoolteacher, Casey J, who has become one of the leading voices in the praise and worship music genre, was recognized in the Gospel Worship Recorded Song of the Year category for her Top Ten hit, “If God/Nothing But the Blood.”
Bishop Leonard Scott earned recognition for his 14th album, “Jesus Love Legacy,” in the category of Traditional Gospel Album of the Year. The good bishop will be contending with labelmate, Earl Bynum, in the same category. The renowned Mount Unity choirmaster’s solo album, “This Song is For You,” is also in the running.
Tyscot Records was co-founded by Bishop Leonard Scott in 1976 with his late nephew, L. Craig Tyson. Over the years, Tyscot has ignited the careers of artists ranging from John P. Kee, VaShawn Mitchell and Deitrick Haddon in the early days to recent superstars such as Kelontae Gavin and Anthony Brown & group therAPy.
