Tyscot Continues To Make New History with Anthony Brown & Casey J

anthonybrownAlmost 40 years ago Tyscot Music & Entertainment hung out its shingle as one of the few black-owned gospel recording labels of the time and now it’s the oldest one standing. The Indianapolis-based firm isn’t just standing but standing strong as it continues to make new history as the company currently has two projects on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart.  This week Anthony Brown & group therAPy’s “Everyday Jesus” (Key of A Music/VMAN Entertainment/Tyscot) is #2* with an 85% increase in sales on the back end of the ensemble’s thrilling performance on BET’s “Sunday Best” talent competition series and continued growth at radio where the single “Worth” moved up to #2* on the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart and will spend its 8th week at #1 per the Billboard Gospel Digital Songs chart. On top of this, the YouTube performance music video of “Worth” surpassed 1.5 million combined views this week as well.

Most labels would be happy with the success of “Worth” alone but Tyscot Music & Entertainment is also enjoying blockbusting success with Casey J’s debut album “The Truth” that has spent 15 non-consecutive weeks in the Top Ten of Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums sales chart since its release in the spring. For the last year, Casey J has dominated the gospel airwaves as her breakthrough anthem “Fill Me Up” spent 14 non-consecutive weeks at #1* on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart while the YouTube lyric video has amassed over 3 million views. Meanwhile, Casey J’s rousing new radio smash “I’m Yours” picked up 13 new stations this week and rose from #19* to #12* on this week’s Gospel Airplay chart. The songbird is nominated for two Dove Awards and is scheduled to participate in the pre-show on October 13th at Lipscomb Arena in Nashville.

Both of these riveting acts have taped performances of their respective hits on the 35th and final season of BET’s “Bobby Jones Gospel” program. Anthony Brown & group therAPy’s episode airs Sunday, November 22 @ 9:00 AM EST and Casey J’s show airs Sunday, February 7th @ 9:00 AM EST. Visit www.tyscot.com for more news and info.
