This is Kelontae Gavin’s big weekend. The 17-year old singer rose to fame after a YouTube video of him dynamically singing “I Won’t Complain” in his high school cafeteria went viral and racked up almost 800,000 views. Now, Gavin is managed by entrepreneur Marquis Boone (who also manages No. 1 gospel artists Casey J and Briana Babineaux) and signed to Tyscot Records – the company that put John P. Kee, Deitrick Haddon and VaShawn Mitchell on the musical map.
Gavin releases a digital single bundle entitled “Higher” on Friday, November 11th to iTunes, Google Play, Amazon MP3 and digital platforms everywhere. Grammy® Award winner Myron Butler produced the inspiring, mid-tempo title song. The single features four versions of the tune plus a fresh arrangement of “I Won’t Complain” that was produced by Jeshua “ TedyP” Williams and Boone. Gavin will make his first national TV appearance with a riveting performance of “I Won’t Complain” on Black Entertainment Television’s (BET) “Joyful Noise” program this Sunday, November 13th at 9:00 AM EST.
