National Recording artist TaMyya J releases “Champion,” the first single from her highly anticipated CD, which is a collection of some of the biggest names in the recording industry. Philadelphia’s own Grammy Award Winning and Multi-Platinum selling songwriter and producer Carvin ‘Ransum’ Haggins, (Musiq Soulchild, Jill Scott and Jazmine Sullivan) produced the single “Champion”. On board is Grammy and Dove Award winner DarkChild Gospel’s Fred Jerkins, III “Uncle Freddie” (Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Brandy, Kelly Roland, and Kierra “KiKi” Sheard). After hitting the stage and sharing a taste of “Champion”, the response has been outstanding. The soon to be released single encourages all to declare they are victorious through God no matter what challenges they are facing. This is exactly the message TaMyya wants to convey through her song, “Champion”. TaMyya recognizes the fact that in the U.S. there are over 30,000 deaths from suicide annually {Medline}, some of the risk factors for suicide includes depression, loss of job, living alone, poor social support, illness and alcohol use. As reported in The New York Times article “Using Music to Lift Depression’s Veil”, we can be reasonably confident that music has a therapeutic effect on depression.
TaMyya is a singer, songwriter, and radio host of the two-time Stellar Award Winning radio station WEHA’s “Never Missed a Beat” radio show”. Since her first project release “Suddenly,” she married Navy Veteran Chris Carter and gave birth to their son, Tyler Prince Carter all while keeping busy on the road and in the studio. She is the lead vocalist on the single “Without You” by Patrick Riddick and D’yvn Worship’s CD “Ready” which topped Billboard #3 when released, 2015.
