It was an exciting evening for Hip Hop artist, Steven Malcolm (IVAV), at the 48th Annual GMA Dove Awards. Besides being nominated for three prestigious award categories, which included New Artist of the Year, Malcolm gave one of the highlight performances for his single, “Party In The Hills.” The song drew a strong response from the industry and fan-filled audience. Guest artist Hollyn joined Malcolm onstage, as he performed Hip Hop raps and stylistic dance moves that brought audience members to their feet and ended with thunderous applause. The Dove Awards will air on TBN this Sunday, Oct. 22, at 8:00 p.m. CST.
The Dove Awards activities began earlier in the day for Malcolm, by attending the pre-show event that included the artist’s two other nominated categories, Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year and Rap/Hip Hop Recorded Song of the Year. This was followed by walking the red carpet, and being interviewed backstage at a press conference and with individual media outlets after his incredible performance.
After coming off the successful 2017 “Winter Jam Tour” where Malcolm performed for over 650,000 people, he will be joining another major tour on Oct. 19. He will be featured on Sadie Robertson’s “Live Original Tour” that will visit 16 cities and conclude on Nov. 12. Malcolm will be performing songs from his self-titled album that reached No. 13 on iTunes Hip Hop/Rap chart.
About Steven Malcolm
Multiple Dove Awards nominee, Steven Malcolm, is a Hip Hop artist from Grand Rapids, Michigan, whose eponymous, 13-song debut album released earlier this year on Word’s new imprint, 4 Against 5 (IVAV). His first single, “Hot Boy,” received high-profile national recognition from NBA on ESPN by selecting “Hot Boy” to be used throughout the 2016-2017 season. At the same time, Spotify became an early supporter by tapping “Party In The Hills (feat. Andy Mineo and Hollyn)” for the site’s first “New Music Friday” playlist of 2017, which was followed by coverage on VH1’s “Black In Crew” this year also. The video for “Party In The Hills” has garnered over 700,000 views to date. Malcolm remains an active touring artist and has performed with such artists as Lecrae, Andy Mineo, KB, Hollyn, Crowder, among others. Response has been strong for Malcolm’s debut project, with The Tennessean saying, “Christian hip lands on Music Row,” CCM Magazine,” Not since Lecrae has Christian hip-hop experienced an innovator and entertainer to the degree of Steven Malcolm,” and New Release Today, “This is a strong debut for Steven Malcolm.”
