Frances McClurkin, mother of Gospel singer, Donnie McClurkin and his Grammy nominated siblings, passed away on Friday,January 18 at 11pm EST. Her tragic passing was caused by complications after suffering a massive coronary heart attack on Sunday, January 13 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bethpage, NY.
Frances leaves behind seven children: Marlene, Donnie, Cheryl, Andrea, Tony, Tanya, Rafael, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding Frances in her journey home are her children Olivia and Thomas.
The McClurkin Family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and words of support during this challenging time. Details for Frances’ Homegoing Service will be announced at a later date.

When I lost my mom in 1997 it was the most painful feeling that I have ever experienced in my life. All the way from CT to FL I told the Lord that I would do anything to NOT have to go through this pain but; God brought me through and He will do the same for you and your family. McClurkin Family; There is nothing like the pain of losing a mother; but God knows best and He will wipe away every tear and take away your pain. I lost my mother 20 years ago this April, but it feels like only yesterday. I would give anything to hear her comforting voice. Be still and know that He is God. “Farewell” is a sad word. The young whisper it with tears…the aged speak it with a heavy heart. And while tears flow fastest and the heart is heaviest, hope whispers “we will meet again. This is only an earthly parting…but we shall meet again.”
The “farewell” that spoils all earthly ties and snaps asunder every bond that love had woven around the hearts, must be spoken when our loved ones fall asleep for the last time. They’ve been with us for so many days until they seem a part of our very selves. Then, when life is without a cloud comes a messenger with no sound or footfall, and calls them away.
The icy chill of alarm from a phone call…a hanging on to faith and the physician’s medical skills…some painful watching to see if vibrancy and life will return, or bracing ourselves for the piercing dagger of that last farewell. There is no cloud which so shuts out the sunshine from an earthly scene, as that cloud of the shadow of death.
Your family meets now around a new made grace. It is a Christian grace with no darkness or gloom, and it will carry you all to your Mother’s grave. While you will water it with your tears, you weep with the understanding that the grave is a portal, heavenward. Only for a little while will the body will sleep where “it is sown in corruption but raised in incorruption; sown a natural body but raised a spiritual body.”
“The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and there shall no torment touch them. Can we call this, sorrow?
It is rather a joy to know that our loved one has escaped the fowler’s snare, is now resting with Jesus forevermore, and that “nothing shall be able to pluck them out of His hand.”
“I heard a voice from heaven as the voice of a great thunder, and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps. And no man could learn that song but they who were redeemed among men.” It is the song of those who have loved, and temporarily, lost.
When all is darkened but the cross, walk and live in that light. Sorrow not as those who have no hope, for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also who sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.” You will be together again on that great, Easter Morning! We all shall be changed! Raised in the likeness of our risen Lord!

This precious one has passed from time into eternity, and there is no more pain, no more sickness, no more of growing old in this tabernacle that tends to lean and weakens.
