DeLeon Carr inevitably showed his roots with the debut of Church Boy Soul, his 2017 introduction into the Gospel arena. He now stands ready to give a little more of the same but in a uniquely different way as he releases I Got It (EMG/Sony/Orchard) the first single from his new project Life Is. I Got It is scheduled to be available on digital outlets and streaming platforms on September 8th.
Carr says the new single and soon to be released album affords him the opportunity to appreciate his growth and evolution as an artist. “Life Is is about me making a declaration with each song, each song tells its own story. I Got It is a conversational piece. I have always been inspired by Mykal Kilgore as a multi faceted artist and knew I wanted to work with him so when I thought about who I wanted this project to reach in terms of all walks of life I reached out to him about writing on the project. I sent him the music and it was like he heard the sentiments of my heart. When I asked him how did he know what I was feeling in the track and he said: “I was feeling very burdened during this quarantine. My heart was hurting, my mind was hurting, my pockets were hurting! I know a lot of people were feeling the same way and I wanted to remind them, and myself, that we aren’t alone. God is willing and wanting for us to cast our cares on Him.”
Life Is will be music that people from all walks of life can relate to and will feature cameos from Josiah “Jojo” Martin, Aaron Marcellus, Duranice Pace of the Pace Sisters and Coriology.
