Detroit-based recording artist Lisa Page Brooks has released the new gospel radio single from her Top 20 CD “Ready” (Habakkuk Music). The soul-stirring ballad “Love Somebody Else” opens as a pretty piano tune and dramatically builds into a passionate anthem in the style of Quiet Storm soul classics such as Stephanie Mills’ “Feel the Fire” or Jennifer Holliday’s “I’m On Your Side.”
The raspy-voiced alto sings a message based on The Golden Rule of treating one’s neighbor as one wants to be treated. “I want to love like you Jesus,” she begs in the riveting climax. “So show me, teach me how!” It’s an inspiring demonstration of Brooks’ trademark church-wrecking theatrics wrapped in a succulent sweet soul sonority.
Brooks was a founding member of the Grammy Award nominated `80s quartet Witness that created contemporary gospel hits such as “Clap Your Hands” and “Standard.” She launched a solo career in the late `90s and has enjoyed radio hits such as “God is Good,” “Waiting,” God Thing” and “Better Than Life.” The “Ready” CD is the dynamic singer’s first project since her 2009 CD “Strong” that featured her Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart #1 smash, “I Want To Say Thank You.” For more information on Lisa Page Brooks or other Habakkuk Music artists, log online at www.habakkukmusic.com.
