Hurricane Harvey has officially moved out of the gulf coast, but not without leaving thousands of Houstonians homeless and massive devastation behind. Houston, the fourth largest city in the U.S. was hard hit with a hurricane, tornadoes and continuous heavy rains over the course of seven days.
During the historic flooding the world witnessed people coming together to help one another through turbulent times and now it’s time to rebuild and move forward. In the spirit of benevolence, the founders of New Light Church, (NLC) Bishop I.V. and Lady Bridget Hilliard, Dr. Irishea Hilliard (Sr. Pastor Designate) and SoundEFX Media will host the Hurricane Harvey Gospel Relief Concert. The Hilliards and the NLC Family were also on hand in 2005 to provide help to those who relocated to Houston after Hurricane Katrina.
On Friday, September 15th, New Light Church will open their doors, once again, by hosting a relief concert and The Hilliards have kicked it off with a personal donation of $10k. Wades World Foundation (Dwayne Wade) is also supporting NLC, in addition, The Word Network will air live and take donations to add to the relief efforts. Currently NLC has four distribution centers open throughout Houston and prior to the event NLC North center will be giving items of necessity to those displaced by Harvey floods. City officials and artists will be on hand to offer words of support and encouragement.
