WHY DONATE? OUR STORY…In 2003 Tomeka Holyfield was Executive Director of The Evander Holyfield Foundation when NBA All-Star Weekend came to Atlanta, GA. The Foundation’s Board approved a “Secular” concert for the weekend, but there was a burning desire in Tomeka’s heart to bring “GOSPEL” to such a high-profile weekend. At the same time, she wanted to raise awareness for Domestic Violence— Every 9 seconds in the U.S. a woman is assaulted or beaten. Studies show that up to 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence annually. Tomeka B. Holyfield grew up as ONE of those 10 MILLION children. She vowed at the tender age of nine to spend her lifetime helping abused and battered women and their children. So the journey began with her bringing “GOSPEL” to NBA All-Star Weekend, then to Hollywood during Oscar Week all while bringing awareness to this cause so near and dear to her heart.
ASGC, now in it’s 9th year has been exceptionally successful during NBA All-Star Weekend. ASGC honors NBA legends/players, NBA wives/mothers, sports figures, local pastors and community/national leaders who celebrate “FAITH.” Some of the hottest GOSPEL performances have graced the stage as everyone enjoys THREE hours of Crazy Praise year AFTER year!
