Last week, Bishop T.D. Jakes made it known that he was no supporter of Oxygen’s new show “Preachers of L.A.”, which follows the lives of six Southern California pastors. Bishop Jakes dissed the reality show, calling it “junk” and distancing himself from the stars’ blinged-out images and flamboyance.
“Now, I know you been watching that junk on TV,” Bishop Jakes said, criticizing the new reality series. “I want to tell you right now, not one dime of what you’re sowing right now will buy my suit. I want you to know my car is paid for. I want you to know I got my house on my own. I want you to know I’m not bling-blinging. I am not shake and bake. I had money when I came to Dallas and I plan to have some when I leave”.
Recently, Deitirick Haddon, a star on the show, called in to Praise Atlanta Radio Station and delivered a response to Bishop Jakes’ comments. Check out what Deitrick had to say below:
“I have the absolute utmost respect for Bishop TD Jakes and what he represents. I considered him one of our generals in this generation. I was a bit taken back and shocked when I saw his view on the show, being that he’s a forefather in unorthodox, unconventional methods of sharing the Gospel, whether it be through MegaFest or partnering with comedians or Oprah.”

Now, I am not advocating for Preachers of LA; however, I do agree with Detrick’s statement. TD Jakes has linked up with a lot of people in media that do not promote the “uncompromising” message of the Gospel in order to promote his film and TV aspirations. It is a clear case of the “pot calling the kettle black” in my opinion. Much prayer is needed in these last days!!!
