Anyone who has been blessed enough to be present when Marti Dorner ministers knows that she is unapologetic when it comes to her love for God. The Contemporary Christian Artist is an exceptional vocalist who has sung background vocals for artists such as Larnelle Harris, Ron Kenoly, Sandi Patty, and The Gaither Vocal Band. Her calling to music ministry has opened many doors, including a new position at International Community Church of God of Frederick, MD. A new member to the church, the Pastor took note of Dorner’s obvious musical gifting and tapped her as Music Director. With Marti’s ability to flow from traditional gospel to CCM, the multi-ethnic church, with a membership of close to two thousand, is the perfect place for the worship leader.
The worshiper released her debut inspirational CD entitled Marti last year. The 11-track CD is not only a sonic masterpiece for the songwriter, but a very personal release in which the artist reveals her trials and triumphs. The project has received rave reviews. Bob Marovich of TheBlackGospelBlog.com calls “Sacrifice,” a single from the project, “hypnotic” and “a simple song over which Marti’s vocals float and soar.” Radio has been enjoying the CD as well with CJBRadio.com putting multiple singles in rotation.
2011 was a good year for the singer. She received a 2011 Newsome Award for Female Vocalist of the Year. The distinction, presented by the Baltimore-based awards organization, recognized the singer for her musical talents and the new CD. She also appeared on Babbie’s House. The Atlanta-based television program is the brainchild of Christian singer, Babbie Mason, an artist that Marti has been blessed to work with. In addition, Marti recently opened for Gospel stars Vickie Winans and Wess Morgan at the United For A Purpose Concert.
A native of the Bahamas, Marti started in music singing at church. Growing up with evangelistic parents and eight siblings, her home was always filled with music. After moving to Orlando, Marti developed her artistry by singing in multiple platforms such as churches, arenas, radio stations, and making television appearances. She currently resides with her husband of 15 years and 2 children within the Maryland area. Her album, Marti, is available on iTunes, Amazon.com, CDBaby.com and in the D.C. area at John 3:16 Bookstore and Potomac Adventist Book & Health Food Store.
