Author, TV personality, Pastor and relationship coach, Bishop Greg Davis, has just released his newest highly anticipated album, Today is Your Day for a Miracle Vol. II. This album is reminiscent to the music of the late Bishop GE Patterson, mixed with the sound of Azusa, and topped with an old school Sunday night service and is sure to feed the soul. The leading single, “Lord I Need a Miracle”, is rapidly climbing the charts and the fans have been waiting for more! With the release debuting on Easter weekend, this album is the perfect embodiment of Gospel nostalgia.
The album, consisting of 26 tracks, takes the listener on a journey of old school, Sunday night church with feet stomping on hard wood floors, hands clapping to the beat of the drums, and swaying to the melodic sounds on one accord with the congregation. Davis says, “this is the type of music that’s congregational, where everyone participates in a call and response manner.”
In this body of music, Davis was intentional with selecting music that paid homage to some of his biggest musical inspirations. “When I was younger, we used to church hop from my grandfather’s church, Bishop Andre Woods at Neopolitan Spiritual Church, Rev. Charles Nicks at St James Missionary Baptist Church, and Universal Kingdom with Rev. Ralph J. Boyd. This sound is what raised me and what I wanted to pay homage to in this album.” Also as a Gospel Music Workshops of America (GMWA) veteran since 1977, Davis grabbed inspiration from some of his favorite leaders including Rev. Charles Mick, Bishop Clay Evans, and the legendary Rev. James Cleveland. In the album Davis includes the “Charles Mick Medley” which is a medley of songs that Medley would play on his radio broadcast many years ago. He also paid a special tribute to the late Rev. Cleveland by including a cover of one of his classics, “May the Lord God Bless You Real Good”.
Today is Your Day for a Miracle Vol. II was recorded during a live worship experience at Triumph Church’s north location, courtesy of Pastor Solomon W. Kinloch Jr., in October 2020 in Detroit, MI and captures the authentic move of God through music. “There was no audience, and we all maintained our distance from each other for safety reasons. However the flow of music was everything I had imagined it to be.” Davis continues, “Keep in mind, a majority of the music was unrehearsed, as many Sunday night services would traditionally be, but even in our small number, you could still feel the presence of God in a mighty way, and that is what you’ll hear when you hear the album.”
Today Is Your Day for a Miracle Vol. II is currently available on all major streaming platforms.
