Dove and Stellar Award nominated gospel crooner Earnest Pugh has come in at #19 on next week’s Billboard Top 20 Gospel Airplay chart with “All Things Through Christ” (from Pugh’s current #1 CD “The W.I.N. Worship in Nassau Experience”), a soul-stirring duet with Bishop Rance Allen. “Ron Thompson – the program director of Praise 104.1 WPRS in Washington, D.C. was the first one to ever play the record and his enthusiasm for the record encouraged me to press on with the song and get it out to stations nationally,” says Pugh. “ Washington, D.C. continues to be my #1 sales and support market and I love them now and always.”
Well, Pugh isn’t confining his popularity to the nation’s capital though. The five-octave singer just wrapped a run of the “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” stage play in Atlanta this past weekend and he’s preparing for a big production in the fall when he stars in legendary theater director Mike Matthews’ new play “Danger at My Door” that opens during the Detroit Opera House’s Broadway series October 2-5.
“When I got the call from Michael Matthews about doing the show I was blown away because it’s been eight years since I read a theater script so my acting skills need work,” Pugh recalls. “He strongly disagreed and insisted that I join the cast of `Aint Too Proud To Beg’ with Dottie Peoples and Jacky Clark. Now, Mike has signed me up for the Broadway-level show he’s launching in the fall. All I can say is: all things through Christ and God has been so good to me.” Visit www.earnestpugh.com for more information.
