Earnest Pugh, better known as Gospel music’s “balladeer,” made headlines after a series of anointed appearances during The 26th Annual Stellar Awards celebration, held the week ending January 15, 2011, at the Grand Ole Opry (Nashville, TN).
Pugh performed during a number of artist showcase and area worship services, including January 13th – an event hosted by Dr. Bobby Jones – where he ministered alongside Crystal Aiken, Myron Williams, Kim Stratton and Earl Bynum. Those in attendance at the Pre-Stellar Award Show (on Friday evening, at the Gaylord Hotel in Opryland) were blessed by his performance of the #1 Gospel single, “Rain On Us,” from the CD Earnest Pugh: LIVE Rain On Us. Immediately following the pre-show, Earnest headlined the “Midnight Musical” at The Celebration Life Church (Hendersonville, TN) with Wess Morgan (“I Choose To Worship.”) The night was hosted by Jessica Reedy of BET® Sunday Best fame.
On Saturday, January 15, Pugh walked the Stellar Awards red carpet (see image attached) and then ministered, Sunday morning, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church (Pastor Joseph Walker), where Gospel Artist Benita Washington serves as Minister of Music.
2011 will prove to be another year of favor for Pugh as he prepares for his new release, titled Earnestly! Produced by Mike Bereal, the CD will be available in stores June 28th. The lead single “Perfect Peace” is already in heavy rotation at radio; it debuted #28 this week on the Top Gospel Radio Charts.
