Motown Gospel is pleased to announce the signing of celebrated artist Micah Stampley. Known for his worship-filled style and stunning vocal range, the Atlanta-based singer/songwriter came to national prominence in 2005 with the release of the critically acclaimed album The Song Book of Micah. That project, which was released on Bishop T.D. Jakes’ Dexterity Sounds/EMI Gospel label, featured the instant smash, now classic anthem “Take My Life.”
“I’m excited to be working with Ken Pennell, Larry Blackwell, and the Motown Gospel family to take my ministry and career to the next level,” Stampley says. “It’s great to be home with a new start, a new vision, a new passion, and a new sound that I’m ready to share with the world.”
Slated for release in Winter 2013, the yet-to-be-titled studio project is produced by multi-award-winning producerAsaph “Alex” Ward (Kim Burrell, Dorinda Clark-Cole), and will feature guest appearances by Gospel legends Donnie McClurkin and Karen Clark-Sheard. The album will also feature a cover of the chart-topping Chris Tomlin hit “Our God.”
“This is a very exciting time for me right now,” Stampley says. “I’m honored and overwhelmed to be working with such a genius like Asaph ‘Alex’ Ward, one of the most profound producers I have ever had the opportunity of working with.”
The admiration is mutual: “Micah Stampley is at his best yet!” says Ward. It is a pleasure to be working with an anointed passionate singer. I am very excited about this record. It’s going to bless everyone.”
