Chicago police have charged Anthawn Ingram, a former church youth leader, with sexual abuse after he spent several months ‘sexting’ and sexually assaulting a 14 year-old boy.
According to reports, the two began interacting while Ingram, 35, was the youth leader at Praise Temple of Restoration Church on the West Side of Chicago. The young boy was a member of the church as well.
Prosecutors say after a year, the teen told his mother and a cousin about the inappropriate relationship with Ingram, and she informed the police.
Ingram was arrested at American Kidz Academy, a day care center where he was employed. He is being held with $500,000 bail and ordered not to return to work at the day care or interact with anyone under 18.
