Dorinda Clark-Cole is one of the busiest women in Gospel music, but you would never guess that by the calm grace she consistently exhibits or the powerful vocal performances she always gives.
Not only is Dorinda the host of two television shows and a nationally syndicated radio show, but she travels the world as an evangelist, faithfully serves her home church and is a doting wife, mother and brand new grandmother. On top of all this, Dorinda Clark Cole still oversees her Singers, Musicians & Arts Conference and remains a force in the Gospel music and entertainment industry. This week, Dorinda’s presence in music and entertainment comes full circle as she releases her 5th solo album, makes her debut on the Oxygen Network’s Preachers of Detroit, and delivers a rousing closing performance during the 23rd Trumpet Awards.
Dorinda’s fifth solo album overall, LIVING IT is her second release on Light Records. “So many things have happened in my life that really brought me to a place of living firsthand the faith that I have sang, talked and preached about for so long,” she says. “After almost losing my house in a fire, and then almost losing it to foreclosure, I have seen God restore and recover so many things in my life that I can really say that I am living it – the ‘it’ being true faith, true dependence on God, true deliverance, true peace.”
The current Top-15 single, “Bless This House”, is a ballad that flourishes with rich Sunday morning chords and passionate, emotional lyrical delivery. The song is a cry out to the Lord for a divine refreshing, asking Him to “bless my house, as I bless you.” Dorinda acknowledges that, particularly because of her traveling ministry, she too is in need of covering. “I almost lost my house. My house caught on fire. Yet, I am still ministering. So, the song is saying, as I travel, Lord, bless this house, as I bless you. As I help someone else out of what they’re going through bless my house, as I bless you. Lord, please bless my children. I need you to bless my house.”
Three days after LIVING IT is released, Preachers of Detroit makes its premiere on the Oxygen Network. Dorinda is one of the featured preachers appearing on the show, which is the first Preachers franchise to highlight women pastors. She is optimistic that Preachers of Detroit will put a positive light on her beloved hometown. “There has been so much negative news coming out of the City of Detroit, and the city really is struggling. I think ‘Preachers’ will show that there is indeed a spiritual undergirding in the city that will be instrumental in it getting back on solid footing,” she says.
On February 21, Dorinda Clark Cole can be seen on The Trumpet Awards that will air on TV One. She closes out a night of amazing musical performances with her riveting rendition of “Shout” by the Isley Brothers.
A Light Records/eOne Music release, LIVING IT is available now in stores and digitally at outlets including iTunes, Amazon and Google Play. For an extra dose of musical brilliance, there is a special deluxe edition available exclusively at Walmart that includes the bonus tracks “Pray” and “Win”.
