Yolanda Adams Says BET’s ‘Sunday Best’ Back in 2017, Returning on Radio in October

BET has said nothing about the future of its long-standing gospel music competition show “Sunday Best,” which has aired most of its seasons in Atlanta. The last season was in 2015, an all-star edition.

This year, BET didn’t schedule it at all, offering no explanation why.

At the red carpet for the BMI R&B Hip Hop Awards last week, I came across long-time “Sunday Best” judge Yolanda Adams and she said the reason they couldn’t do “Sunday Best” this year was host Kirk Franklin’s busy schedule. (He has been with the show since its inception in 2007.)

We have not been cancelled so thank the lord for that!” she said.

Adams, a gospel singing legend herself, promised the show will return in 2017 for a ninth season, confirming something BET has yet to do itself. (BET hates to acknowledge when a show has been cancelled or even on the bubble. It would rather say nothing at all)

It’s one of those things that people look forward to,” she said.

Adams recently lost her syndicated radio show to Erica Campbell. She was heard locally on Praise 102.5.

She said she is planning to bring a new radio show in Houston on October 3 at Amazing 102.5. She hopes to syndicated this show at some point as well.
