This past weekend, Vonnie Lopez graced the red carpet for BET’s Celebration Of Gospel along with Riverphlo President and CEO, Mano Hanes, who is also producer of her upcoming album. Scheduled to air on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 8:00PM EST, Vonnie performs on the telecast as a member of the Kurt Carr Singer. As a soloist, Vonnie is putting the finishing touches on a brand new CD which will drop on Tuesday, August 27, 2013. The debut project for the songstress is being released on Riverphlo Entertainment, headed by industry notable Mano Hanes. The two connected when Vonnie was recording The Kurt Carr Singers’ One Church project. Vonnie recalls, “I could see how much he loved God and how gifted he was as a producer. It was a God thing from the beginning. I know that Mano isn’t going to do anything that God has not spoken to his spirit. It was a God thing that he believed in me and it’s an honor and a privilege to be a part of what God is doing through Riverphlo Records,” shares Vonnie.
The industry is already raving about the artist and the single, “The Name of Jesus”. Pastor Hart Ramsey says, “Vonnie Lopez stands among the most anointed voices of our generation with limitless vocal ability and a heart that matches it. It amazes me to watch her go from poised exhortation to an absolute eruption of authentic worship that moves the heart of God and leaves worshipers engulfed in His presence. The first time you experience this gift you will put her on your list of favorites. No one delivers a song quite like Vonnie Lopez.”
Bob Marovich of The Black Gospel Blog says, “Vonnie Lopez sings the stuffing out of this warm, contemporary worship ballad on the power and sweetness of the name Jesus. During the first half, Lopez savors the name like sweet honey. In the second half, she shouts it with the power of fiery gospel evangelism.” The official video of “The Name of Jesus” song has been released and can be viewed on YouTube (http://bit.ly/RUtVGT). One listen to the song and it’s hard to believe this gifted singer was born tone deaf.
A Louisiana native, Lopez is a singer and a songwriter; her songs have been recorded by The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and The Nor-Cal Mass Choir. She is also in full-time ministry with her husband, Aaron Lopez, where they pastor the Eastwood Pentecostal Church in Lake Charles, LA. In addition, she is Vice President of Jordan International Aid, an organization that offers aid to the disadvantaged overseas.
