The Hardest Working Woman In Gospel – Vickie Winans – is back on the radio airwaves in a big way. Radio One Detroit’s 105.9 KISS FM has added Winans to its on-air personality roster. The new weekly program, “Sunday Morning Praise with Vickie Winans,” debuts this Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 6 – 9 a.m. “This show will be great,” says Armando Rivera, KISS 105.9 FM Program Director. “Vickie Winans has the ability to make you laugh, cry, worship and dance all in the same setting. Detroit has a strong gospel base that deserves to be heard. Vickie Winans’ personality along with incredible inspirational music, will uplift Sunday morning radio in Detroit.” Radio One Detroit V.P. /General Manager, Kathy Stinehour, adds, “Vickie is an internationally renowned, hard-working recording artist, and we are honored that her show will change Sunday morning radio in Detroit, starting this Sunday.”
Winans is also back on radio with an inspirational anthem entitled, “Release It.” The song, from Winans’ 2009 Grammy-nominated “How I Got Over” CD, challenges the listener to release and let go of the negative things of their past such as feelings of inadequacy, unforgiveness and the affects of abuse. “It’s time to let go of everything that separates us from walking in the fullness of God and the path he has for each and everyone of us,” Winans says. “Some of the lyrics are: `So much pain inside, hard to put behind you. The things you’ve been through, those things no one knew.’ Virtually everyone can relate to some element of the song whether it’s moving by “past failures” or getting over “broken promises.”
Winans has been performing the song in concerts for the last two years and teary-eyed fans often come up to her after her shows and tell her how much the song means to them. “Sometimes you just need somebody to remind you to let go of that issue that is holding you back and release it,” she says. “When they greet me, they tell me about all of the things that they have gone through and that’s what the song is about. Identify your problems, but once you’ve done that, the solution is to release it and let God heal you.”
Winans just wrapped up filming a new concept music video on the song. It was posted on YouTube:
