Tyscot Records – the nation’s oldest operating African-American owned gospel recording label – and its affiliated artists have placed seven songs on the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart for the week ending June 12, 2021. The highest entry on the survey belongs to the smooth-voiced VaShawn Mitchell who steps up from No. 10 last week to No. 9 this week with the festive track, “Lifted Up” (V Man/ FairTrade/ Tyscot).

Louisiana-based Bri Babineaux (who is expecting her first child with her engineer husband, Keeslon Fontenot) moves from No. 12 to No. 11 with the southern ballad, “He’s My Rock” (Bri Babineaux / Tyscot). The dynamic, Anthony Brown& group therAPy, is celebrating the tenth Top 30 chart entry of their career with the moving, “Help” (Key of A / FairTrade/ Tyscot), which jumps from No. 17 to No. 13 on the chart.

Jason Nelson, known for his crooning ballads “Shifting the Atmosphere” and the No. 1 smash “Forever,” shows he’s got a flair for mid-tempo songs too. The R&B flavored Steppers’ groove, “Residue” (Jaelyn Song / FairTrade / Tyscot), from 23 on last week’s chart to No. 21 this week thanks to an extra 144 MRC (formerly Nielsen BDS) airplay detections.

The second radio single from R&B star and Maroon 5 keyboardist, PJ Morton’s Gospel According to PJ” album, is making noise too. Morton wrote and produced the track, “Repay You” (Morton Inspiration/ Tyscot), that features silky smooth leads from veteran gospel artist, J. Moss. It’s at No. 22 this week.

Worship leader, Darwin Hobbs, returns to the chart for the first time in a decade with the up-tempo cut, “Get Ready” (Heartart Worship / FairTrade / Tyscot), which clocks in at No. 26 this week. Finally, the Kentucky-fried gospel of Louisville’s Jason Clayborn & The Atmosphere Changers, makes its chart debut at No. 28 this week with “You’re All I Need (Remix)” (Jay Clay / Tyscot).  The spirited up-tempo track features a guest appearance from gospel music legend, Hezekiah Walker.
