Tonya Baker Plays Sirius Radio Concert This Friday, April 15, 2011

Sirius XM Radio will host rising gospel star, Tonya Baker, in an exclusive in-studio concert this Friday, April 15 @ 1:00 pm ET on Praise, SIRIUS channel 68 and XM channel 33. The Praise channel program director called Baker’s performance, “amazing.”

Recorded at SIRIUS XM Radio’s Manhattan, New York studios, the concert previews Baker’s forthcoming Kingdom Records sophomore CD, The Live Encounter, which will hit retail shelves nationally on May 3rd. Among the songs that Baker performs is her radio smash “Miracles” that is currently #23 on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart.

Written by Romel Gibson and John Jackson, who have written songs for American Idol champ Ruben Studdard and others, the song is striking a chord. One fan calls it “simply amazing” while another wrote that it’s “exciting and encouraging.” Baker adds that, “It’s a blessing to know that the song is being well received.  I believe it’s such a timely song for us as a people right now.  God doesn’t want us to simply overlook all of the wonderful miracles and blessings He performs for us consistently and to be quite honest; we’re living in a time where we need the miraculous!  I pray that people continue to let it minister to them and remind us to look to Him to do the impossible.”

The Live Encounter is Baker’s first live album. It was staged at The Ginghamsburg Church outside of Dayton, OH in July 2010. Grammy winner Myron Butler, who’s collaborated with gospel stars such as Smokie Norful and Kirk Franklin, produced the project. “The first time I heard Tonya sing, I immediately felt and heard the anointing that God placed on her voice,” says Kingdom Records Vice President, Bernie McLean. “She is a gifted vessel on assignment.”
