Songwriter Tony Dickerson Creates Feel-Good Music With His Group Tony Dickerson & The Essential Band

Tony Dickerson is a passionate music teacher, inventive songwriter, artist, and one of the premier musicians in Gospel. The Memphis-based creative has  developed his signature sound and distinct artistry by fusing traditional and contemporary Gospel with a splash of southern soul.

Tony is an accomplished songwriter who released his first single, “I Need Him”, in 2008.  His songs have also been recorded by Billboard charting and award-winning Gospel artists Joshua Rogers (“More Than A Conqueror”) and The Tennessee Mass Choir (“The Greatest Of All Time”).

Tony is the founder and bandleader of Tony Dickerson & The Essential Band.  Established in 2004, Tony Dickerson & The Essential Band are a group of creatives determined to impact lives by performing songs of inspiration.  They are a professional ensemble that provides music and background for an array of performances, recordings, and events throughout Tennessee and the surrounding areas.  The group is also a notable national recording group.  Their first album, SIGNIFICANT MESSAGE released in 2012 and included their hit “I Need Him” featuring Darrel Petties.  Their latest offering and single, “I Am Good”, features Kevin Davidson and Reginal Butler.

Tony & The Essential Band will perform “I Am Good” and present an evening of new and diverse styles of music at Crosstown Arts in The Green Room on Thursday, September 23, at 7PM.  Crosstown Arts is a contemporary arts organization dedicated to further cultivating the creative community in Memphis, TN.  Their Green Room offers guests a uniquely intimate listening environment to completely bask in the artists’ presentation.  For Tony and his band, that will be an evening of feel-good music and spontaneous pure worship.

“For our concert at Crosstown Arts, we will perform songs of love, hope, inspiration, and strength.  Those are the takeaways we want people to obtain,” Tony shares.  “We want to bring glory to God, inspire a love for one another, encourage being united, being restored, and ultimately feeling holistically good.  There will also be surprise musical features, dancing, and pure excitement you don’t want to miss.”
