BIO:
Shontel D. Hightower is a woman that was born to stand. Growing up between Philadelphia and New Jersey, Shontel had to learn at a very early age the importance of hard work. At the tender age of fifteen after her mother was diagnosed with cancer, she had to grow up fast. In the process of learning how to take care of herself, the streets began to call. In a whirlwind of not knowing how to properly deal with the loss of her mother, emotions, and hurts, she leaned to the streets for support. Money, clothes, fast cars, condos, jewels, and drama seemed to soothe the pain. Externally she seemed to have it all, but on the inside she was slowly withering away. In all of the madness, Shontel could hear the voice of her beautiful mother and remember the example she presented. She reflected on the fact that even after being diagnosed with cancer, her mother pursued her education and strived to be an example to her daughter.
After years of turmoil and drama, Shontel felt a strong desire for change. She knew that there had to be more to life than what she was experiencing. Beaming with joy, Shontel proclaims that the best day of her life was when she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into her heart as her personal savior. The lasting lesson she learned from the tough times was that God is in control no matter what she has been through or will go through in life. If she truly submitted her life to Christ she can experience life again and have joyous times continually.
As an author, performance poet, dancer, songwriter, rapper, screenwriter, entrepreneur, creative genius, mentor, and an energetic and blazing speaker, Shontel is dedicated to helping others overcome their struggle. Shontel acquired a variety of certifications including mentoring, youth development, and biblical studies. Shontel attends Freedom Christian Bible Fellowship Church where Apostle Gilbert Coleman Jr. is Senior Pastor.
Shontel stands on the scripture Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
