Chicago, IL: The gold-selling Shekinah Glory Ministry’s (SGM) new CD, Refreshed By Fire (Kingdom Records), has debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Album sales chart – their second #1 debut. The CD has also come in at #2 on Billboard’s Christian/Gospel chart, #12 on the Independent chart, #61 on the Top 200 pop chart and #59 on the Current Albums chart. There’s also a version of the CD featuring a bonus song and an inspirational DVD that’s sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores.
“We congratulate Shekinah Glory Ministry – what a 10 year journey it has been!,” says Kingdom Records CEO/President, Joan Sullivan of the CD’s success. “No one could have predicted what would happen but their fan base has been consistent and has grown to expect a level of praise and worship that has shifted people into a higher spiritual understanding of God. This new CD will do what Shekinah Glory Ministry’s other CDs have done: cause you to praise, to worship and to enter into the very presence of God.”
Kingdom Records is a leader in African-American praise and worship music with hits such as Shekinah Glory Ministry’s 2001 breakthrough smash, “Praise is What I Do.” The million-selling SGM is not a choir. It’s a dynamic ensemble of psalmists, minstrels, and banner bearers who perform “under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. “ Their Hebrew name means “the glorified presence of God.” Their CDs Praise Is What I Do (#5 peak Top Gospel Albums) and Shekinah Glory Ministry Live (#3 peak Top Gospel Albums – 103 weeks on the chart) were both certified gold in 2005 and 2008 respectively. They also have three gold or platinum DVDs to their credit. LaTosca House, one of the lead singers for SGM, says honesty is a key to their success. “We don’t mind showing ourselves,” she confesses. “When I have the mic, it’s me and the Lord and where He takes me is where I go. We take our focus off people and allow God to take over. When we worship God, we shouldn’t let anybody hinder us from our praise. Our impact is that we are transparent, willing vessels.”
