“I wrote, `You Are The Reason’ based on a few things,” Winn explains. “First, I wanted to express my gratitude and write a song to God. As I reflected on my first solo CD project – Balance, I realized that I mostly write songs that speak directly to people. However, with the first single from my forthcoming project, I wanted to change that up. Second, I wanted to write a song, with what I felt was a simple, clear message and a memorable melody. I wanted the listeners to be able to immediately identify with the song based on their own experience. Third and finally, I wanted to create a universal theme. I believe we can all attest to the fact that God is the reason we live and that we are grateful not only for what He’s done, but the fact that he keeps bringing us through.”
The Memphis native burst on the scene in the late 1990s as half of the Dove Award nominated Ted & Sheri gospel duo that enjoyed radio hits such as “Come Ye Disconsolate” and “Celebrate.” The former was included on the R.I.A.A. gold certified “WOW Gospel 2004” compilation CD. After an amicable professional split, Winn went solo in 2009 when he released the Top 30 inspirational anthem, “God Believes in You.”
His debut solo CD “Balance” boasted cameos by gospel stars such as Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Jonathan Nelson, DeWayne Woods and Myron Butler. The album delivered two other big Billboard charting gospel singles “The Lifter” and “Connected To The Kingdom.” Visit or https://twitter.com/teddysjamz for news https://soundcloud.com/mrkerrydouglas/you-are-the-reason-by-ted-winn to hear a snippet .
