He retired from the hip hop industry 13 years ago to preach the gospel and eased his way back.
Also known as Mason Betha, the 34 year old shared on a TBN interview that some were worried about him going back to rap, afraid his commitment to the church would waiver.
“Why is it Christians are more confident in the Devil taking me more than Christ keeping me,” Betha questions. “What I have inside of me is more powerful than anything the world could ever offer me.”
Instead of going the entrepreneurial route, Mase went Christian and opened up El Elyon International Church and Mason Betha Ministries in Atlanta.
Despite his success, he said in an interview last month that he regrets making such a sudden transition.
“I didn’t give myself any room to grow, I went from one extreme to another extreme, I was just so gung ho about what I was learning, that’s all I wanted.
“I went so hard in one direction that people had things to say and rightfully so,” Betha said. “I don’t blame them for that [but] it’s been 13 years, let’s move on.”
All he’s asking of his fans and fellow worshippers is a word of prayer as he ventures back into a seemingly godless world.

I will be praying for him because so many times the enemy (and not giving him any credit) trick artist into thinking they have missed something in the world, but in reality they have gain everything in Christ. I hear what he is saying, but he cannot serve two master…the world and Christ…it’s one or the other because God is a jealous God!. If he did such great things for Christ and made a drastic and radical change for Christ, then what is the problem? Their are too many “worldly Christians” in the body of Christ…those that want the world and Christ at the same time, but God does not play that! It’s either Him or the world and we cannot have it both.
I pray that this will not cause the sheep to scatter and their blood on his hands. I will also pray the he seeks God concerning this matter because God did speak to him to make this move. He does not compromise the gospel to reach the world….either they come on His side or stay on the outside. The time is short and the body of Christ MUST pray for the saints of God!

Amen!! The bible tells us in the last days there will be a great falling away and we see it happening constantly, some are falling away right in their pews!! As you said we MUST pray one for another and most of all stay in the unadulterated, unchanging Word of God!! Be either hot or cold or He will spit you out!!!

As Christians; we need to stop judging people for the things they do or are palnning to do. We have all done things that we regret it live, but God is a fogiving God. Mase, I will lift you up in prayers. I pray that God will lead you in the right direction.

I hear what he is saying and what everyone else is saying. I believe that if God gave him a gift he should us it. The only thing I would say is use it for God. There is nothing wrong with being a rapper. I say show the world that God create you in His image and likeness by using the Gift He gave you for HIS Glory and HIS Glory alone. We as believers need to just pray for Mase and his transition that he does what God is leading him to do for the body of Christ.

Let’s all say this together…DECEPTION!!!
Mase has a choice to either follow Christ “completely” or be devoured by Satan within the Hip Hop community. I hope he is not under the impression that others will come to Christ if he raps their lyrics and hangs out with them. That is RIDICULOUS!
Prayer??? I would rather rip out my own tongue before I ask God to usher you back into darkness, Mase! The world has NOTHING to offer so why should you be eager to get back into their presence.
My hope is that his eyes will be opened and he realizes that the Hip Hop community is anti-Christ and are not interested in his success.
Peace!

What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? I believe Mason’s money has gotten low. He is not experiencing the financial profit that he did on the dark side. He will have to give an account for those sheep who followed him, and he will have to answer to Jesus. Follow men and women only as they follow Christ. When they stop following Jesus, you have to stop following them. A double-minded man is unstable in all their ways.

I want to say that really all Hip Hop is not of the Devil! Remember that there was a time of Concious hip hop. remember Public Enemy, We cant think that God dosent want to infiltrate that arena as well. I dont think Him going back is sin at all. I think Its what he does when He goes back, How he usses Himself in the Industry. If He goes back a promotes Healthy musci with Lyrics that lead one to a more positive way of looking at life with out all the non sense we see now whats wrong with that. He has a gift so is the gift only to be used for the church if God has giving Him the ear of the world (unbelivers). I think He has to be carful not to be sucked in how he was before but if he returns and bring a difference to the Industry I say Go for it but always no who and what you stand for! Dont comprimise once you get over there. This may very well be the ministry that God had for Him all along. Remembre God deliverd Moses from the Egyptians sent Him on the backside of the desert for 40 years to be taught by Jethro the ways of God then God turned around and sent Him Back to Egypt with a differnt message. Who better to go back to deliver Isreal than a man who knew the culture the verbage and the operations because he had been there before. So we are to pray that He stays focused and know exactly what God has called Him to do.

Mase i’m confused first you said wanted to become a pastor on world star hip hop when you gave your testimony and got saved, and now you are saying that you regretted making such a sudden transition, saying you didn’t give yourself any room to grown, and that you went from one extreme to another extreme. Mase so you’re leaving your church to your wife twyla to run your church while you go back to worldy rap music. Mase it seems as though your heart was never really there to begin with, that’s why you kept going back to rap when you were in the church.
