Marica Chisolm will join a host of artists in support of independent stores during this year’s Annual Record Store Day in Atlanta, Ga. Before Best Buy, FYE, and even iTunes, the “go to” place for music lovers to purchase the latest projects used to be the local record store. The advent of new technology and big box conglomerates, however, brought about the near demise of the beloved record shop.
In 2007, a concerned group of store owners joined forces to organize Record Store Day. According to www.recordstoreday.com, these entrepreneurs came together with a specific purpose in mind: “This is a day for the people who make up the world of the record store-the staff, the customers, and the artists-to come together and celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role these independently owned stores play in their communities.”
Marica will join the Record Store Day celebrations in Atlanta as local participator, DBS Sounds opens its doors for a live music experience for all to enjoy. Chisolm will perform songs from her current release, Simply Worship, including “Hallelujah to the King” and “Used”. Her performance begins at 12:40 p.m. EDT.
