Lonnie Hunter Cracks Top 40

Bishop David G. Evans’ Abundant Harvest Entertainment is continuing to break new ground for gospel music. The label’s current single by Radio One’s syndicated midday urban inspirational show host, Lonnie Hunter, is shaking things up on the national airwaves. The uproariously festive single, “Do Something,” has entered the Nielsen BDS Top 40 Gospel Songs survey. While the song’s rhythm boasts the catchy bump-groove that identifies many of Chicago’s favorite choirs, Hunter is backed by the  Abundant Harvest Church Choir that displays the rich East Coast choir styled popularized by Wilmington-Chester Mass Choir and Hezekiah Walker & the Love Fellowship Choir.

“Do Something” is the third smash radio single from the best-selling “Bishop David G. Evans Presents Automatic Praise! Live” (Abundant Harvest Entertainment) CD. Tracy Shy led the single “”this Joy” and Earnet Pugh delivered the smash, “Why Should I Be Bound?” Hunter is a former soloist for the U.S. Air Force Jazz Band and a celebrated gospel choir conductor. He’s best known for his 2003 hit “Let’s Dance” with the Voices of St. Mark Choir.

Bishop David G. Evans is pastor of the 27,000-member Bethany Baptist Church in Lindenwold, NJ.
