For three decades, Brooks’ mesmerizing voice has reigned as one of gospel music’s most dynamic and beloved instruments. Her animated concerts have been heralded as church-wrecking and roof-raising experiences so a live project is overdue. “We decided to do a live recording because my live performances often take on a deeper dimension than what we capture in the studio,” Brooks adds. The new set of refreshed classics and original songs will mark Brooks’ first new album project since 2013’s Top 20 hit “Ready.”
The daughter of Motown Records singing star Charles Warren Harris of the `60s era R&B group The Monitors, Brooks decided to follow the gospel path to fame. She was a founding member of the `80s contemporary quartet Witness that created gospel hits such as “Clap Your Hands” and “Standard.” Brooks launched a solo career in the 1990s and has enjoyed radio hits like “God is Good,” “Waiting” and “I Want To Say Thank You.”
