Today, National Wear Red Day, join The American Heart Association for a cooking demo at 5 pm and Zumbathon from 6-8 pm in the Center Court. On Saturday, Feb 2, in front of Macy’s, activities will include: Free blood pressure screenings by St. Joseph Medical Center, nutrition counseling, fitness and cooking demos, kids art for the heart sponsored by the Deltas, casting call, learn Hands Only CPR by Chesapeake AED Services, heart health info and free giveaways. Go Red Fashion show featuring women survivors and local celebrities produced by Lane Rae’s KIS agency. ABC NEWS news anchor, Kelly Swoop will emcee.
For 10 years, women have been fighting heart disease individually and together as part of the Go Red For Women movement. More than 627,000 women’s lives have been saved, but the fight is far from over. Heart disease is still women’s No. 1 killer – it affects more women than men and is more deadly than all forms of cancer combined. But the strength of mothers, sisters, daughters and friends fighting side by side is more powerful than any killer. It’s time to shout louder, stand stronger and demand change. Together, we can end heart disease. Women Go Red.
