Callahan is the founder of the acclaimed 20-member choir, who’ve been together more than 12 years. The group’s current album, Evolution II, features GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Asaph Ward and newcomer Stephen Anderson-Day. The CD features a mix of ten contemporary and traditional songs with performances by Eric Dawkins, Nikki Ross and the legendary Elbernita “Twinkie” Clark–who is featured on “Sunshine,” the group’s modernized version of the Clark Sisters’ international anthem, “You Brought the Sunshine.”
“This is a global project to heal, encourage and empower people,” says Callahan. “This album is by far the best work we have done to date. The ‘Evolution II’ speaks to us about how we evolve through our trials and circumstances; getting better and becoming the person God would have us to be. We go from glory to glory, growing in love, grace and wisdom.”
Callahan and SOG kicked off the fall season with appearances at Aretha Franklin’s Annual Gospel Celebration (Detroit, MI); 104.1 FM’s Spirit of Praise at Evangel Cathedral (Upper Marlboro, MD); and Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound concert at the Fox Theatre (Detroit, MI).
