Current Album “All in One” STILL Selling Phenomenally

Multi-talented award-winning contemporary gospel star Karen Clark Sheard (of the legendary Clark Sisters) is sparkling even brighter this year with an impressive number of high profile projects – in music as well as a major motion picture coup.

For starters, Sheard made gospel music history in January by becoming the FIRST artist honored with “The Albertina Walker Female Vocalist of the Year Award” from the Stellar Awards. She was also nominated again for prestigious Grammy and Dove Awards this year. Pushing forward, Karen has also been nominated for this year’s “Best Gospel Artist” honors at the BET Awards that will be announced live on the network’s star-studded telecast on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 8pm.

Next, she made a magical blend with Aretha Franklin on the roof raising duet “Faithful” on The Queen of Soul’s deeply personal and self-produced latest album, A Woman Falling Out of Love (on Aretha Records). Thoroughly impressed, The Queen tapped Sheard for a role in the long-awaited Franklin biopic slated to begin production this fall.

In related film news, Sheard also graces T.D. Jakes’ Presents Sacred Love Songs 2: Music Inspired By The Movie “Jumping the Broom” (the hit African American family film with a message that stars Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine, Paula Patton, Valarie Pettiford and others). For the album, Karen and gospel-jazz saxophone great Kirk Whalum lend their incomparable styles to Natalie Cole’s 1975 hit “Inseparable.”

Finally, Karen’s sixth and latest album All in One – her first in four years released last April on Karew Records label (her joint venture with husband Bishop J. Drew Sheard, distributed by EMI Gospel) – is still going strong with styles that range from traditional to urban contemporary – something for everybody. Karew launched with The Clark Sisters Family Christmas album in 2009 and is proud to announce its third release coming this summer on July 19: a solo album by Karen’s daughter, Kierra Sheard, titled Free.

Reflecting on the amazing year, Karen Clark Sheard marvels, “Looking back on the days of the Clark Sisters and seeing where I am now, every day becomes a day of thanksgiving. I now realize my trials and tribulations prepared me for these exciting times in my life. This dimension of my life is now a humbling experience.”
