Three time Grammy award winning Gospel powerhouse, Dorinda Clark-Cole, of the Clark Sisters, and Grammy nominated, Stellar award winning “preacher called by God to sing”, Marvin Sapp, are the hosts for this years’ 27th Annual Stellar Awards Show.
The 27th Annual Stellar Awards will take place at The Grande Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN on Saturday, January 14, 2012.
The Stellar Awards was the first Gospel Music award show in the country, honoring Gospel Music Artists, Writers and Industry Professionals for their contributions to the Gospel Music Industry. The award show has now become a premier Gospel Event, honoring and recognizing the top entertainers in the industry.
Every year three individuals are chosen to be honored for their phenomenal contribution to the industry. The three awards given are The James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement, The Thomas Dorsey Most Notable Achievement Award and The Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones Legends Award.
This year’s recipient of The Thomas Dorsey Most Notable Achievement Award is Vy Higginsen, a recognized black pioneer among New York City’s media elite. Higginsen is the first black female radio personality in New York City’s prime time market and is the founder of the Mama Foundation for the Arts, an organization nurturing black youth in the arts.
This year’s recipient of The Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones Legends Award is Evangelist Dorothy Norwood, world renowned Gospel music legend. Norwood has received countless awards and recognition for her contribution to the Gospel Music Industry. She is being honored for her iconic, legendary career.
The recipient of this year’s James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award has yet to be revealed.
As for voting, the second and final ballot will be available for public voting online from 9/19/11 through 10/10/11. The official press announcement to reveal nominees for the 27th Annual Stellar Awards will be broadcast live on 10/29/11. Public Fan Favorite voting for the Gospel Announcer of the Year and Internet Radio Station of the Year will be available online from 10/29/11 through 11/15/11.
