Gospel Group, The Williamsons, Announce New Lead Singer

williamsons5The Williamsons of Weleetka, Oklahoma are saddened by the loss of our “long time” friend and lead singer David Folenius. David and his wife Lisa plan to travel across the country as The Lineage of David sharing the Gospel through music and by holding revivals meetings. Their debut project will be titled “When God Has Another Plan” and will be released on the Mended heart Music label. The couple plans to remain in Wetumka, OK where David will continue working with The Williamsons in their recording studio.

While saddened by David’s departure The Williamsons are also excited to announce the addition of Karl Rice to the lead position. Many will remember Karl from his nearly seven years as tenor for the The Anchormen, one of the country’s premier male quartets. Karl not only brings his quality vocal talent to The Williamsons, but also his ability to play several instruments. Group owners Donnie and Lisa Williamson also play a number of different instruments and audiences can expect much more live music from the group in the future. Karl, wife Daniela, and daughter Grace will be relocating to Wetumka in the near future. Plans for a brand new major project is already in the works.

The Williamsons are one of the country’s few true mixed quartets traveling today with Louisiana native Darin Hebert more than aptly filling the bass part. In 2013 they were nominated in the Absolutely Gospel Music Awards as Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Favorite Group of the Year and were in the top ten nominees as Favorite New Mixed Group in the Singing News Fan Awards.
