Gospel Artist Robert E. Person Commemorates 100th Birthday Of Mahalia Jackson With Free Download Of His Remake Of Her Classic, “Come Sunday”

Many gospel artists count Mahalia Jackson as a strong influence on their musical careers.  Gospel artist Robert E. Person is no different.  One of her most popular songs, “Come Sunday”, penned by Jazz aficionado Duke Ellington, is known as a staple in the genre of Jazz.  Robert E. Person re-recorded the song on a previous release and decided to make the track available for FREE DOWNLOAD only on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, what would have been the legend’s 100th birthday.  Produced by Allyn Johnson, the rendition is a Jazz and Gospel lover’s dream.  With Person’s exquisite vocals and a band of true Jazz musicians, the track captures the intensity, while keeping the integrity, of the original.  Those who are interested in downloading the single, “Come Sunday”, can do so by logging on to TheChristianJukebox.com and going to the site’s store.

In addition to promoting “Come Sunday”, Person has been busy promoting his latest CD, Soul Sanctuary.  The lead single, “Someday We’ll All Be Free”, is receiving great reviews and Person has been covered by media outlets like TheBlackGospelBlog.com, Breathecast.com, District Chronicles and The Examiner.  He’s performed recently at the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Dedication and has appeared on TV on Rejoice In The Word with Bishop George Bloomer on The WORD Network and on Babbie’s House hosted by Christian artist Babbie Mason, which will air on Monday, November 7th at 4PM EST on WATC-TV in Atlanta and stream live on www.watc.tv.
