Chicago native son Curtis Fondren makes a sizable contribution to the Fall music line up with Get Ready, his new single heading to radio this week and to digital outlets on September 29th.
A master percussionist, Fondren is known for his work with legendary “Chicago Gospel” institutions, having recorded with Reverend Clay Evans and the Fellowship Baptist Church Choir, Dr. Charles G. Hayes and the Cosmopolitan Church of Prayer Choir and Reverend Maceo Woods and the Christian Tabernacle Church Baptist Choir. He has travelled the United States and abroad accompanying David Peaston and Fontella Bass, Reverend Jessy Dixon & Geraldine and Donald Gay to name an additional few. Fondren played on the critically acclaimed instrumental recordings Heavenly Keys, Soulful Sounds and Lift Me Up from The Sirens Records. In 2016, Fondren served as co-producer of the Reverend Clay Evans and the Ship, What A Legacy CD that spent some fifteen weeks in the top ten on the Billboard Gospel Albums Chart.
“I’ve been playing and writing for a good while now”, Fondren states. “I have been waiting to share this message with people who will hear and receive it” Fondren declares. “From the scriptures, we learn that God orders our steps. Because the faith walk is usually limited vision, it is very easy for us to get discouraged based on what we are not seeing. Get Ready encourages you to believe that God has a set time and to hold on to the promises of God and believe God for what’s to come.”
Get Ready features the vocal stylings of Tina Brown and the track is produced by Fondren, Pharis Evans, Jr. and Gregory Gay. The digital release of the single will feature two versions of the song and serves as the anchor for Fondren’s first project scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2018.
